Town Secures Historic $5M Contribution from UNC Health to Establish an Affordable Housing Revolving Loan Fund
The Council approved the Eastowne development, a project of UNC Health to expand their facilities at the Eastowne campus. UNC Health committed to providing $5M to the Town to establish an Affordable Housing Revolving Loan Fund, which will preserve and create between 500-1,000 units of affordable housing.
Chapel Hill has adopted a plan and is making steady progress to address the community's affordable housing needs.
The Council unanimously adopted a new affordable housing plan and investment strategy on September 13, that charts a path forward for the Town's affordable housing efforts over the next five years. The Plan builds off of the Town's strong track record in this area and proposes expanding and creating new key initiatives.
The Town tracks our progress towards our affordable housing goals.
We track and communicate our affordable housing progress through an interactive dashboard and quarterly reports to the Council and community. The dashboard presents key data that transparently shows our progress towards our affordable housing goals.
The Town leverages its resources with local, federal, and institutional support to achieve its affordable housing goals.
With additional $50 million of investment in affordable housing, we could expect to support the development of 900 units and the preservation of 400 units of affordable housing over the next 5 years.
